미생물 분리
미생물을 자연계로부터 분리하는 것은, 미생물과 서식지와의 상호관계, 미생물과 식물의 상호관계 등 미생물 생태학적인 관점에서 관심을 가지는 경우와 특정한 미생물 種 또는 미생물 群을 목적으로 하는 경우가 있다. 전자의 경우에는 가능한 한 많은 미생물을 분리해야 하므로 비선택적 분리 배지를 사용하고 배양 온도나 pH에 있어서도 넓은 범위에서 미생물이 생육 가능하도록 유도하여야 한다. 후자의 경우에는 특정한 배양 환경이나 조건을 설정함으로써 목적으로 하는 미생물만이 생육케 하여 분리하게 된다. 이와 같이 목적에 따라 미생물을 분리하는 방법이 다르게 되는데 앞에서 언급한 균분리원의 선정에 있어서도 달라져야 할 것이다. 여기에서는 방선균을 예로서 자세히 설명하고자 하며, 기타 미생물 群에 대해서는 일반적인 방법을 간단히 알아본다.

3.1 미생물의 분리 목적

미생물을 분리하는 목적에 따라서 실험 방법이 달라지게 되는데, 자연계로부터 미생물을 분리하는 목적은 다음과 같이 나눌 수 있다.
i) 자연계에 존재하는 미생물相의 이해
- 대상 환경에 賦存하는 전체 미생물의 質的, 量的인 해…(생략)
