1. CRC
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide, representing a significant health burden. It involves malignant transformations of the cells lining the colon and rectum. Various risk factors contribute to the development of CRC, including age, family history, lifestyle choices such as diet and physical activity, and genetic predispositions. The pathogenesis of CRC is a multifactorial process that typically follows a sequence of biological events. Initially, normal colonic epithelial cells undergo genetic alterations that can lead to adenomatous polypsbenign tumor growths that can progress to carcinoma over time. The classical progression model for CRC is the adenoma-carcinoma sequence, which describes how adenomas acquire additional genetic mutations that propel them into malignant forms.
