Lung cancer is one of the most significant public health challenges globally, representing a leading cause of cancer-related morbidity and mortality. The World Health Organization estimates that lung cancer accounts for approximately 8 million deaths annually, making it the most lethal form of cancer worldwide. The disease is characterized by the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the lung tissues, leading to a variety of pathophysiological alterations and clinical manifestations.
