1. 서론
Protein folding diseases, also known as conformational disorders, represent a crucial area of biomedical research due to their profound impact on human health. Among these diseases, Alzheimer`s disease stands as a prominent example, characterized by the progressive degeneration of cognitive function, memory loss, and behavioral changes. The pathophysiology of Alzheimer`s disease is closely linked to the misfolding of proteins, particularly amyloid-beta and tau, which play significant roles in the disease`s development and progression. In a healthy brain, proteins maintain their functional conformations, allowing for effective cellular communication and overall homeostasis. However, in Alzheimer’s disease, certain proteins undergo abnormal folding, leading to the formation of aggregates that disrupt normal cellular functions.
