1. Location of Dokdo
Dokdo, known as the Liancourt Rocks, is a small group of islets located in the Sea of Japan, roughly equidistant between the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese archipelago. The precise geographic coordinates of Dokdo are approximately 3 24° N latitude and 13 865° E longitude. The islets are situated about 21 8 kilometers east of the Korean city of Ullungdo and about 19 2 kilometers northwest of the Japanese island of Oki. Dokdo consists of two main islets, known as Dongdo (East Islet) and Seodo (West Islet), along with numerous smaller rocks surrounding them.
