1. More than 80 years ago, Dr. Edmond Locard of Paris expressed the basic principle of forensic science: "Every contact leaves behind a trace." 80년 전 보다 더 전에 파리의 에드먼드 경은 범죄과학 수사의 기초 원리를 이렇게 표현하였다. “모든 접촉은 흔적을 남긴다.” The burglar who touches a window with his bare hands leaves fingerprints behind; the criminal who steps on the flower-bed leaves his tracks and carries away some soil on his boots. 창문을 맨손으로 만진 절도범은 그의 지문을 뒤에 남긴다. 화단을 밟은 범죄자는 그의 경로를 남기거나 그의 신발에 흙을 조금 묻혀간다. The robber who smashes a window carries tiny fragments of glass on this clothes. 창문을 깬 강도는 조그만 유리 파편들을 옷에 묻혀 간다. The murderer may be contaminated with his victim`s blood; the victim may retain some fibers from the murderer`s clothes. 살인마는 그의 옷에 피해자의 피가 묻어 있을 수도 있다. 피해자는 살인자의 옷에서 나온 섬유 조각들을 갖고 있을 수도 있다. “Leaving a trace" is the idea that all forensic science is based on. “흔적을 남기다”라는 말은 모든 범죄과학 수사의 기초가 되는 생각이다. 2.
