1. Abstract

- 위장 pathogen인 Helicobacter pylori는 아주 적은 수의 transcriptional regulator만을 사용하여 인간의 위장과 같은 극한 환경에서 적응을 해야 한다. 이 적응에는 stringent response라는 전략이 사용되는데, 이것은 (p)ppGpp라는 alamone을 통하여 H.pylori가 자신의 RNA합성을 억제시키면서 여러 환경 조건에서 생존할 수 있다는 것을 보여준다. 그리고 (p)ppGpp의 생산을 통한 transcription을 조절하는 능력은 다양한 pathogen의 infection과 transmission process를 위해서 중요한 특성으로 생각 된다. (p)ppGpp synthetase, hydrolase인 SpoT는 starvation condition에서 (p)ppGpp의 생산에 아주 중요하다. 이 SpoT가 결여된 mutant들은 stationary-phase에서의 생존 결핍과 coccoid 형태로의 전환이 wild-type보다 더 빠르게
