본문/내용
1998년 총 누적 AIDS환자 수는 15,935명으로 보고되었으나, 보고 지연을 고려하면 실제 환자 수는 약 20,000명 일 것 같다. 보고된 건수의 3/4(11,000명 이상)이 사망했다. 사망과 발생이 감소하고 있는데, 이는 치료법의 개발로 발생률은 낮아지고 생존율이 높아졌기 때문이다. 보고된 건수와 사망자의 수는 남자와 여자의 비율이 14:1로 보고되었지만,, 이러한 비율은 변화하기 시작했다. 여자들의 비율이 상승하고 있다. (모든 성인 건수의 6%에서 13%로 상승)HIV 감염자는 40,000명으로 추정되고, 약 11,000명-17,000명은 아직 자신의 감염을 깨닫지 못하고 있다.

1995-1996년 사이 부상으로 인한 입원건수가 217,000명이다. 65세 이상 연령에선부상으로 인한 입원율이 가장 높다. 대부분의 부상은 비의도적이다. 부상으로 인한 입원 3건 중 2건은 추락과 교통사고가 그 원인이다. 타인의 유해에 의한 입원율은 5%, 자해에 의한 입원율은 2%를 차지한다. 추락은 60세 이상 노인들에게서 특히 많은 원인이면서 1세이하 어린이와 11세-20세 사이의 젊은이들의 부상에서도 중요한 원인이 된다. 어린이들에서 그 다음으로 중요한 원인은 중독이다. 청소년과 6…
