Which Are You?(당신은 어느 쪽?)

미국의 시인, 작가, 저널리스트. 어렸을 때부터 대중문학을 탐독하였고 14세에 신문에 첫작품을 발표하였다. 위스콘신 대학에서 공부. 첫 시집 Drops of Water를 1872년에 내고 곧 이어 종교적인 시집 Shells(1873), 감상적인 이야기 시 Maurine(1876)를 냈다. 1883년에 에로틱한 연애 시집 Poems of Passion을 내어 대성공을 거두었다. 그 밖의 시집으로 Men, Women, and Emotions(1893), Poems of Pleasure(1888), Poems of Sentiment(1906), Gems(1912), World Voices(1918) 등이 있고, 소설로는 Mal Moulee(1885), A Double Lif (1890), Sweet Danger(1892), A Woman of the World(1904) 등이 있다. 자서전으로 The Story of a Literary Career(1905), The Worlds and I(1918)를 남겼다.
