2. 신체적 자기개념의 측정
신체적 자기개념의 측정에 대한 연구는 다차원적 측정도구가 개발되기 시작한 1980년대 후반부터 소수의 학자에 의해 급격히 늘어나고 있다. 지금까지 소개된 다차원적 신체적 자기개념 질문지는 3개로 Fox(1990)의 신체적 자기개념 프로파일(PSPP), Richards의 신체적 자기개념 척도(PSC), Marsh 등(1994)의 신체적 자기기술 질문지(PSDQ)가 있다. 이 중에서 PSPP와 PSC는 탐색적 요인분석(exploratory factor analysis, EFA)에만 의존해서 요인구조를 밝혀낸 것이다. 이 두 질문지가 갖는 구성개념 타당도(construct validity, 구인 타당도라고도 함)는 아직까지 확인되지 않고 있는 실정이다. 그러나 PSDQ는 확인적 요인분석(confirmatory factor analysis, CFA)을 통해 요인분석이 이루어 졌으며 체력검사 종목과의 상관관계, 선수와 비선수의 비교연구, 관련개념과의 관계 등 다양한 방법으로 그 타당도가 입증된 바 있다.
