1. 연구의 필요성
지능은 사회과학분야의 개념중 20세기에 가장 대중적이고 대표적인 것으로 자리잡아 온 개념이며, 학력 및 사회생활 수준을 예언하거나 장애정도를 판정하는데 중요한 지표로 이용된다. 그러나 지능을 과잉 신뢰하여 지능지수가 적게 나오면 실망하고, 자녀의 지능지수에 과민한 반응을 보이는 부모 때문에 사회문제화 된 경우도 적도 있었다. 이렇게 지능에 대해 과잉신뢰를 나타내는 것도 문제이지만, 지능을 무시하기 어려운 개념임을 인정해야 하는 것도 현실이다.
지능은 검사에 의해 측정된다. 우리나라에서 지능을 측정하기 위해 1955년 정범모(1955)에 의해 최초의 간편지능검사가 개발된 이후, 50여년의 기간이 경과하면서 10여종의 집단지능검사들(박경숙 외, 1991 등)이 발간되었고, 1963년부터 발간되기 시작한 개인용 지능검사(전용신, 1970; 박경숙 외, 1986 등)도 5～6종이 발간되었다. 그동안 우리나라에서 발간된 지능검사들은 대부분 지능의 고전이론인 심리측정적 접근에 의한 검사라는 공통점을 지니고 있다. 그러나 외국의 경우 1970년대 이후 ‘탈 지능지수’정신에 입각하여 많은 지능이론들이 개발되고 있…
