3.2 이론 활용 현황
분석항목은 논문 생산성을 학회지별로 10년 단위로 하여 이론 활용 논문수와 이론 활용 횟수를 조사하였다. 한국문헌정보학회지의 경우 1970년대는 학술지 발간의 초창기로 10년간 31편의 논문이 발표되어 그 중 6편(19.4%)의 논문에서 이론 활용은 9회이며, 1980년대는 80편의 논문이 생산되어 14편(17.5%)의 논문에서 이론 활용은 29회가 있었다. 1990년대는 학술지의 발간이 반년간에서 계간으로 확대되면서 발표된 연구 논문수는 278편으로 대폭 증가되었다. 그러나 연구논문에서 이론을 활용한 논문은 37편(13.3%)에 67회의 이론이 활용되어 오히려 감소현상을 보이고 있다. 한국문헌정보학회지 전체적으로 이론을 활용한 논문의 비율은 14.7%이며, 이론을 활용한 논문 1편당 1.84회의 이론이 활용되고 있는 것으로 분석되었다.
정보관리학회지는 1984년에 창간되어 한국문헌정보학회지와 차별성을 부각하기 위하여 주로 전통적인 도서관학 영역보다는 정보학 영역의 논문이 많이 발표되는 경향을 보였다. 1980년대에 발표된 73편의 논문 중에서 26편의 논문에서 57회의 이론이 활용되어, 35.6%의 논문에서 1편당 2.19회의 이론이 활용되었다. 1990년대는 192편의 논문에서 48편(25.0%)의 논문이 98회의 이론을 활용하였다. 정보관리학회지 전체로 볼 때, 265편의 논문에서 74편(27.9%)이 이론을 활용하였으며, 이론을 활용한 논문 1편당 2.09회의 이론이 활용되었다.
두 학회지 654편의 논문에서 131편(20.0%)의 논문이 이론을 활용하였으며, 이론 활용 횟수는 260회로 이론을 활용한 논문 1편당 1.98회로 분석되었다. 학회지의 특성상 한국문헌정보학회지보다 정보관리학회지에서 이론 활용성이 높음을 알 수 있다. 시대별로 전체 논문 생산량에서 이론 활용 논문수와 이론 활용 횟수는 <표 3>과 같다.
