자료설명
복음주의 진영 안에서의 “성경 무오성에 대한 논쟁”을 풀러 신학교와 국제 성경 무오협의회를 중심으로 살펴보고 지면의 제한 때문에 성경의 자증적 증거와 신학적 인식론적 접근은 다음 기회로 미루고자 작성한 글입니다.

II. 풀러 신학교의 무오성 논쟁
메이첸이 자유주의 신학자들과 논쟁 끝에 급기야 프린스톤 신학교를 떠나 웨스트민스터 신학교를 세우고 구 프린스톤의 전통을 이어가게 되었다. 이 때 찰스 풀러와 몇몇 사람들이 구 프린스톤 신학의 영감 무오설이 바르게 교육되어야 한다는 신념을 가지고 풀러 신학교를 세웠다. 이러한 이유로 풀러는 문을 열 당시에 모든 교육 과정을 통해서 교수들이 학생들에게 성경의 무오성을 신학적으로 교육시킨다는 점에서 이의가 없었다. 풀러 신학교가 문을 열었을 때 교수단은 윌버 스미스(Wilbur Moorehead Smith), 에베레트 해리슨(Everett F. Harrison), 칼 헨리(Carl F. H. Henry) 그리고 해롤드 린젤(Harold Lindsell) 등 모두가 성경 무오설을 주장하는 복음주의 학자들로 구성되어 있었다. 따라서 린젤은 “풀러 신학교의 신앙고백은 성경은 구원에 관계된 진리들뿐만 아니라 사실, 과학, 역사, 연대기적인 기록들에 있어서도 아무런 오류를 포함하고 있지 않다는 것을 선언한 것”이라고 기록하고 있다.
얼마 후에 웨스트민스터 신학교에서 석사과정을 공부하고 하바드에서 박사학위를 받은 에드워드 카넬이 그곳에서 교수 생활…
