본문/내용

Ⅰ.서론
우리나라의 교육에 직접적 혹은 간접적으로 관여한 미국인의 일반철학이나 교육사상은 미국의 사회적 그리고 문화적 유산에 의한 산물이었다. 미국을 시찰했거나 미국에서 공부했거나 혹은 각종 수단에 의해 우리나라 사람들은 미국의 교육사상으로부터 영향을 받았다. 우리나라 교육사상에 영향을 준 미국의 여러가지 관전을 1940년대에 이루어진 미국의 교육사상을 분석하여 밝힐 필요가 있다고 본다. 이러한 필요성에 따라 이 논문에서는 당시 미국교육의 상황, 교육이념, 진보주의 운동 및 교육사상의 변천과정을 탐색하였다.

이러한 연구문제를 해결하기 위하여 개념적ㆍ논리적 분석법과 역사적 연구법을 사용하였다. 당시의 미국의 교육사상에 대한 용어를 정리하고 규범적 정의를 내리기 위하여는 개념적ㆍ논리적 분석법을 사용하였고, 1940년대를 전후한 각종 인쇄물을 분석하고 정리하기 위하여 역사적 연구법을 사용하였다.

이 연구는 몇가지 제한점을 가지고 있다. 연구기간을 1940년대로 한정시켰다는 점이다.

교육사상은 시기에 따라 명확히 구분되기도 어렵고 이 기간을 위한 교육이념이 따로 설정되지 않는다는 전제를 고려하지 않았다. 또…
