본문/내용
우리는 현재 사회·정치·문화·예술 등 전분야에 걸쳐서 하나의 큰 파도를 경험하고 있다. 이러한 파도를 ｢포스트(post-)｣라는 접두어로 대신하는 경향이 있는데, 그것이 매우 혼동되어 쓰이고 있다는 것이 우리로 하여금 그것들을 이해하는데 한층 혼란스럽고 어려운 것으로 만들고 있다.
우선 먼저 ｢포스트모던(postmodern)｣에 대한 논의는 그 용어 자체가 상징하듯이 ｢모던(modern)｣에 결부되어 있다. 오늘날 포스트모던을 둘러싸고 있는 대부분의 핵심 논제들은, 첫째, “포스트모던이라는 용어 자체에서 나타나고 있듯이 어떤 변화에 대한 징후를 담고 있는데, 그것이 무엇으로부터의 변화인가?, 즉 모던과 포스트모던을 구별하는 인식요소는 무엇인가?”,에 대한 논의들이며, 둘째, 첫번째 문제로부터 야기되는 문제로써 “모던과 포스트모던”, 이 양자의 관계는 단절과 대립의 관계(脫)인가, 아니면 연속과 발전의 관계(後期)인가?”,에 대한 논의들이며, 셋째 “포스트모던 및 ｢포스트모더니즘(postmodernism)｣을 긍정적으로 바라보는가, 아니면 부정적으로 바라보는가 ?” 하는 시각들이다. 다시 말…
