3.2. 공명론적 입장 : 판넨베르크, 폴킹혼
공명론. QCC, 67-8.
의 의미는 다음과 같다. 일반적으로 과학은 신학적 사고를 결정하지는 않지만 분명히 제한한다고 할 수 있다. 예컨대 물리학은 형이상학의 체계를 위한 기초안을 제공해 준다. 세계에 대한 과학적이고 신학적인 평가들은 서로에게 지속적인 방식으로 어울려야만 한다. 사실, 폴킹혼은 대화로서의 관계를 받아들이기 때문에, 단지 이 평가들이 양립가능한가의 문제가 아니라 상호간의 심화와 조명(照明)이 가능한가의 견지에 서있기 때문에 공명론적인 입장을 취하고 있다. 폴킹혼에게 있어서는 공명에 대한 탐구가 상호관계성에 대한 물음의 접근을 가능케 하는 토대가 된다.
3.2.1. 판넨베르크
독일의 현대 신학자인 판넨베르크는 소위 ‘보편사 신학’을 주장하는 학자다. 그는 변증신학이라는 바르트의 그 방대한 영향력 속에서 순수 계시신학으로 일관해 온 개신교 신학의 “배타적 계시” 이해가 오늘날 이미 신학적 용도를 상실했다고 지적했다.. 볼프하르트 판넨베르크, 『역사로서 나타난 계시』[Offenbarung als Geschichte], 전경연 역(서울 : 복음주의 신학총서, 1979), 9.
따라서 그는 그리스도 사건에 나타난 특수 계시만을 강조해서는 안 된다고 주장하면서 계시의 다양성과 함께 역사로서의 계시를 문제로 삼았다. 이러한 그의 입장은 결국 신학이라는 학문을 보편학문으로, 일반 제학문들과 똑같은 과학적 학문으로 주장하기에 이른다. 이러한 그의 신학적 입장은 신학이란 ‘신에 관한 과학(Science of God)이다’라는 말에서 그 단초를 찾아 볼 수 있다..
