3)쿰란공동체 영향
오순절이 계약의 갱신 축제로서 여겨져 왔다는 초기의 증거가 있다. 그것은 오순절이 특히 쿰란공동체을 포함한 유대교의 몇몇 분파에서 대단히 중요시 되어 온 것으로 알 수 있다. 최근에 H. C. Kee는 Jub. 7:34-37과 14:1-6에 근거해서 사도행전 2장에 나오는 성령의 부어줌이 계약의 갱신과 참여에 연관 되어져 있다고 주장하였다. 쿰란공동체의 계약갱신의식의 규칙의 앞부분과 1QS 1:16-2:19에서 보여주는 것은 사제들과 레인인들이 함께 하나님의 구원 행동과 하나님의 신실하신 행동들을 찬양하면서 ꡐ계약의 입문ꡑ을 말한다. 그러면 모든 계약에 들어가는 자들은 아멘을 외친다. 그 다음에 자신들의 죄를 자백하고 그들에게 축복을 선언하고 사탄의 무리에 속한 자들을 저주한다. 이런 의식은 그들이 매 년 실시하고 있으나 불행히도 날짜는 나와있지 않다. Grundmann은 사도행전 2장의 기록과 쿰란의 계약의 갱신의 세 가지 측면이 연결되어 있다고 한다. 첫째는 하나님의 위대한 행동의 선포(1QS 1:21; cf. 1:9), 둘째는 씻음에 의해 발생하는 어둠에 속한 종족과의 분리와 회개를 요청하는 것이다(2:5-6; 2:111-12). 셋째는 공동체 구성원 서로간의 하나됨을 강조한다는 것이다(1:9; 2:24). 그러나 이것이 종교에 공통적으로 나타나는 일반적인 현상에 불과한지 쿰란 공동체에 누가가 영향을 받은 것인지 확연히 구분하기는 어렵다.
오순절과 율법 수여의 날이 연관성이 없다는 것으로 성령 강림이 구약에 나타난 율법수여의 장면에서 영향을 안받았다고 단정할 수는 없다. 행 2:1-4에 나오는 소리, 불, 방언 등은 율법 수여시 나팔소리, 불 가운데 강림, 예언 등과의 비슷한 분위기와 현상을 부인할 수 는 없기 때문이다.
