상식심리학 성격류의 이론고찰
앞서 지적한 바와 같이 이론의 제안자 자신들이 상식 심리학임을 명백하게 표방하는 것은 귀인이론 뿐이라고 보아진다. 그러나 본 고찰에서는 상식 심리학적 관점이나 특성과 일치하거나 유사하다고 사료되는 여타 이론들 예컨대, Kelly(1955)의 주관적구성개념 이론, Stotland Canon(1972) 의 인지요소이론, Abelson과 Rosenberg(1958) 의 기호론리 이론, Bruner(1954) 등의 잠재적 성격 이론 등을 상식심리학의 범주에 넣고 동시에 요약고찰하되, 그 과정에서 여러 이론들이 각각 어떤 면에서 상식심리학적 성격을 띄고 있는가를 밝혀 보기로 한다.
이와 같은 요약고찰의 주목적은 1) 현재로서 상식심리학의 테두리를 정하고, 2) 그 발달상황을 이론내용의 측면, 이론의 적용범위 및 발달과정의 측면에서 분석하고, 3) 앞으로 필요한 연구방향에 대한 제시를 하는 데에 주목적이 있으며, 끝으로 새로운 상식심리학적 접근의 한 예시를 시도해 보고자 하는데 있다.
1) Abelson과 Rosenberg이 심리적 기호이론 (Symbolic Psychologic 이론)
인지일관성 이론(congnitive consistency theory)의 신봉자인 Abelson과 Rosenberg는 태도형성과 관련해서 인지과정이 일관성을 성취하는 과정에서 작용하는 원리 및 법칙을 발견하기 위해 가장 체계성있고 깊숙하게 연구한 사람들이다. 그들의 이론은 감정적 판별의 색조가 깃든 태도유관적 인지요소 상호간에 일관성을 유지하고 성취시키려는 동기가 인간에게 존재한다는 가정을 하고 있다는 점에서는 여타의 인지일관성(cognit…
