비서 소프트웨어는 경험을 쌓아서 각 사용자에 맞게 자동적으로 개별화된다. 우리는 일정 관리, 전자 뉴스 그룹 관리, 그리고, 전자 우편 관리에 대하여 자동으로 학습하는 비서 소프트웨어를 연구함으로써 이 주제를 발전시켜나가고 있다.
일정 관리에 관한 학습 도우미 소프트웨어인 CAP을 제안하였다. CAP은 온라인 달력에서 편집, 전자 편지의 인터페이스를 제공한다. CAP은 사용 경로를 통하여 스케쥴 특성을 학습하고 각 사용자에게 일정 관리에 대하여 개별화된 조언을 준다. 그리고, 여러 CAP 시스템이 5년동안 실제 사용자들에 대한 경험을 얻었다. 앞으로 CAP에 대한 학습 방법과 실험 결과를 서술하겠다. 그 다음, 마지막으로, 다른 영역에서 소프트웨어 도우미를 개별화하는 것에 대하여 기계 학습의 잠재성에 관한 우리가 얻은 교훈을 언급하겠다.

CAP은 회의 일정 관리에 도움을 주는 학습 도우미 소프트웨어이다. CAP은 온라인 달력과 전자 우편을 대화형으로 사용할 수 있다. 사용자는 달력에 회의를 추가, 삭제, 이동, 그리고, 주석을 달 수 있다. 그리고, 달력에 많은 사건을 일시적 또는 확정적 상태로 지정할 수 있다. 다른 사용자 명령어로는 CAP에게 회의 초청장 전자 우편을 보내게 한다던가(예를 들어, 일시적인 회의에 대해서) 확인 전자우편을 보내게 할 수 있다.(예를 들어, 확정된 회의에 대하여) 또한 사용자 명령어들은 일정들에 텍스트 노트로 꼬리표를 달거나, 달력 화면을 변경하거나, 달력을 다양한 형식으로 인쇄하는데 사용 가능하다.
