Moscovici의 대표적인 두번째 연구는 “La Bon”의 군중심리를 사회적 표상의 입장에서 연구한 “L`Age des Foules: Un traite historique de psychologie des masses (Moscovici, 1981)”이며, 그 영어판은 1985년에 출간된 “The Age of the Croed: A historical treaties on mass psychology(1985)”으로, 여기서는 그의 정신분석적 연구와 그 초점을 약간 달리하였다. 즉 정신분석 연구에서는 정신분석이란 과학적 지식이 어떻게 일반사회에 전파되었느냐에 관심을 둔 반면, “La Bon”의 군중심리학에서는 “La Bon”의 저자가 군중심리학이라는 지식체계 또는 설명체계를 창출(produce)하게 된 과정을 설명하는데에 초점을 맞추고 있다.
위의 두 연구는 모두 과학의 세계가 일반인의 사회적 세계로 전화되는 과정을 설명하려는데 그 직접적 의도가 있다고 볼 수 있다. 그러나 다른 한편으로는, 자연과학에서 다루는 세계와 사회과학에서 다루는 세계가 어떻게 다르며, 따라서 그 리론화 및 그 접근방법에서 양자간에 어떻게 달라야 한다는 것을 실제의 연구를 통해 나타내 보이는데 보다 원대한 목적이 있었다고 볼 수 있다.
Moscovici는 그의 저 “The Age of the Crowd(1985)”에서 과학을 두 종류로 구분한 바, 그 하나는 력사를 통해 창조되는 과학-예컨대 물리학, 생물학 등과 같이-과, 다른 하나는 력사를 창조하는 과학-예컨대, 정치경제학, 집단심리학등과 같이-이다. 예를 들어, “La Bon”의 군중심리는 히틀러, 무솔리니, 레닌, 스탈린과 같은 정치가들이 그들의 정치과정에서 직접 사용했다는 점에서 력사의 창조에 직접적 영향을 준 과학이라고 볼 수 있다는 것이다.
