본문/내용
장애를 가진 사람이라 할지라도 그렇지 않은 사람들과 마찬가지로 지역사회의 일원으로서 각종 지역사회 시설물을 이용할 수 있도록 하고, 지역사회 사람들과 동일한 활동을 할 수 있도록 하기 위해서는 지역사회 주민들과 일상적인 접촉을 하여야 하고, 가정에서 생활하도록 하거나 지역사회 내에 있는 설치되어 있는 가정과 유사한 환경(home-like settings near community resources)에서 생활할 수 있도록 하여야 한다. 이러한 목표는 특수교육자들 사이에서는 완전통합(inclusion)이라는 용어로 사용되고 있다.
따라서 오늘날 추구하고 있는 특수교육의 성과는 위와 같은 기준으로 평가될 수 있다. 따라서 이 기준은 예전의 특수교육을 이해하는데 도움을 준다.
4. 새로운 특수교육 성립과정 영향을 미친 3인의 학자
오늘날의 특수교육은 1960년대나 1970년대의 특수교육과 같지 않다. 그렇다면 오늘날의 특수교육은 그 이전과 비교해 볼 때, 무엇이 어떻게 달라진 것일까? 이러한 변화가 나타나도록 하는데 지대한 공헌을 한 사람은 누구일까? 여러 사람이 있을 수 있지만 그 대표적인 사람 3인을 든다면 다음과 같다. 그들은 여러 교육자들로 하여금 이전…(생략)
