Ⅰ. 서론
어느 시대를 막론하고 교육자들의 주요 관심사는 학습 효과 증대를 위한 방법을 모색하는데 있다. 최근에 보고된 많은 논문과 연구에 의하면 초등학교 음악지도의 문제점 중의 하나로 학습활동의 다양성 결여가 자주 지적되고 있다. 기존의 지도 방식과 교육적 매체에만 얽매이지 않고 새로운 음악적, 교육적 과학적 매체를 개발하고 수용하려는 개방적인 자세와 적극적인 노력이 필요시 된다.
국내에는 아직 널리 보편화된 개념은 아니지만 미국을 중심으로 다른 나라에서는 이미 수십년 전부터 초등학교 음악수업에 다양한 영역의 음악적 능력의 습득을 위해 건반악기를 중심 학습매체로 활용하는 교육방식인 건반경험(keyboard experience) 학습이 실시되어 오고 있다. 1957년 MENC(Music Educations National Conference)에 의해 학교수업을 위한 피아노지도 지침서(Teaching Piano in Classroom and Studio)가 출판되면서 음악수업에 있어 피아노 악기의 교육적 효율성과 건반 경험에 대한 인식이 점차 확산되기 시작하였다.
건반악기는 초등학교 음악수업의 동기유발에 효과적인 학습매체로 많은 음악적 기술 지도가 가능하고 건반경험은 음악적 이해력과 개념습득 및 창의성을 고무시키는 지도방식으로 이 접근방식을 시도한 많은 음악교육자들에 의해 바람직한 음악수업 형태로 권장되어 왔다.
그 동안은 일반 피아노와 무성 종이건반으로 지도되어 오다가 근래에는 전자키보드, 신디싸이저, 디지탈 피아노, 소형 휴대용 키보드를 비롯한 다양한 형태의 전자악기의 개발 보급으로 건반 경험의 수업전개 방식이 좀 더 다각화 될 수 있게 됨으로써 음악교육자들이 더욱 더 관심을 표명하게 되었다.
급속히 변화하는 현대사회에서 인간생활의 모든 영역은 과학문명의 기술적 발달에 밀접한 영향을 받게 된다.
