ternet game portal “HANGAME”(www.hangame.com), the nation’s first portal for children “JUNIOR NAVER”(jr.naver.com), the nation’s first online donation portal “HAPPY BEAN” (happybean.naver.com), and the nation’s first micro blog service “ME2DAY”(http://me2day.net/).
NHN was first formed by merging “NAVER” and “HANGAME”. Generally, there is one CEO in one corporation. But NHN adapted co-CEO system. NAVER’s Hae-jin Lee and HANGAME’s Beom-su Kim managed NHN together without a big conflict. CEO Lee stepped down as president in 2004, Hui-yeong Choi undertook a president recently. It’s a typical example of co-CEO system which is really rare in Korea.
NHN has been leading the Internet industry in Korea with achieving the head in research about Internet service part. According to a statistical research by Korean Click, the outcome of portal site using share of unified search appeared NAVER(58.13%), Daum(30.75%), Nate(26.23%), Google Korea(23.47%).
