특별히 감각장애가 없음에도 불구하고, 손상을 입은 대뇌 반대쪽의 공간적 환경 및 신체에 대해 제대로 인식하지 못하는 상태.

대부분 Rt. Hemisphere에 손상.
neglect의 원인은 정확하게 밝혀지지는 않았지만 시각적 이해의 장해와 신체구조화의 기능 장애로 인한 것이라고 추측.

임상적인 특징
Vision, Audition, Tactile 자극에 대해 반응 하지 못함

Affected side로 visual fixation, Visual scanning 등의 movement의 어려움.

Reading, Writing 같은 functional activity 동안 비대칭성이 두드러짐

감정적 변화와 질환에 대한 부정이 자주 나타남
