본문/내용
TSMC설립이후 1987년 Winbond와 Hualon이 반도체산업에 진출하면서 DRAM부문에 발전이 가속화되어진다. Windbond는 ERSO의 연구진 100명을 스카웃하고 CMOS와 ASIC기술을 각각 Macronix와 NCR로부터 도입한다. Hualon는 Mosel과 Eilte와 각각 SRAM과 EPROM을 공동으로 생산하기 시작했고 메모리 디자인기술은 미국의 Seeq Technologies로부터 이전받았다. 이 회사는 1991년 Seeq의 1.2 micron EEPROM을 생산하기 시작했다. 이러한 기술이전은 ERSO의 기술개발을 보완함으로써 반도체 생산기술을 발전시키는데 결정적으로 기여하게 된다. 한편 컴퓨터산업의 비약적인 발전으로 메모리칩의 수요를 대체하기 위해 대만최대의 컴퓨터생산업체인 Acer가 1993년부터 Texas Instrument와 합작으로 DRAM을 생산하면서 한국업체와 DRAM시장에서 경쟁이 불가피하게 되었다. 1999년 대만의 반도체산업은 세계시장에서 반도체 4위(세계시장점유율 6.7%), IC파운드리 1위(64.6%), IC디자인 2위(19.6%) 등을 기록함으로서 반도체 강국으로 발돋움하는데 성공하였다.
