위 (8a, b)에서 적형 음보 구조인 경우는 (8b)이다. 이와 관련하여 Burzio의 주장을 정리해 본다면, 연쇄는 어간에 접사가 첨가되었을 때 강세 이동으로 인한 재율격화 (remetrification)가 일어나는 것이고, 중복은 단지 강세의 중화가 발생한 것을 말한다. 이렇게 본다면 중복에 의한 적형음보는 강세 중화를 이루고, 결국 이것은 강보존을 형성한다는 말이 된다.
반면에 (génera)l→gene(rálity)에서처럼 -ity 등의 접사가 첨가되어 강세가 이동함으로 강세의 중화가 되지 않는 경우는, 강세 연쇄로서 앞에서 보았던 (6b)의 적형조건에 따라 율격 구조를 통한 적형 음보 구조를 갖는다는 것을 말한다.
그러나 Burzio의 이러한 주장은 한 가지 문제점이 있다. 즉, 접사 -ity가 첨가되는 예를 강세 연쇄로만 볼 수 없는 경우가 있다. 예를 들어 ágile→agílity, fínal→finálity는 (6a)처럼 연쇄에 해당된다. 그러나 sanity를 보면, sáne→sánity가 되는데, Burzio의 주장을 따르면 sánity도 강세 연쇄에 속해야 하지만, 이것은 분명히 그와 반대로 중복이다. 다시 말해서 접사 ity에 있어 강세에 대…(생략)
