1. 셀 수 있는 명사 VS 셀 수 없는 명사
1) 셀 수 있는 명사(가산명사)
- 단수일 경우에는 명사 앞에 a/an 이 오고, 복수일 경우에는 명사 뒤에 -(e)s 를 붙인다(단?복수에 상관없이 명사 앞에는 the나 대명사의 소유격과 같은 한정사도 올 수 있다).
- The businessman owns a factory.
- The businessman owns the factories.

2) 셀 수 없는 명사(불가산명사)
- 셀 수 없으므로 앞에 a/an 불가, 뒤에 -(e)s 도 붙일 수 없다.
- 대표적 셀 수 없는 명사(information(정보), furniture(기구), luggage(짐), equipment(장비), advice(충고))
- They spent the day packing the luggage. (≠ an luggage, luggages)
- She taught him how to use the equipment. (≠ an equipment, equipments)

해설1) a) furniture, dining room 앞에 한정사가 없으므로, 불가산 명사 혹은 가산명사의 복수형이 와야 한다.
